I have occasionally done this before, but on this occasion I needed it to split tunes from a set of PDF folk tune books by Paul Hardy.
Initially I thought I would need to edit/split partial pages to remove multiple tunes on a page, and I tried a free editor, PDFGear, for this. Whilst this looked a decent free editor, I quickly found that the PDFs I was editing appeared to have single embedded images/entities containing multiple tunes. Musical scores were a particular issue here.
I therefore decided to simplify things and just use a free PDF page splitter and put up with the pages containing extra tunes I didn’t need. As I did in the past, I used PDFsam basic for this – you just open the file, type in the selection of pages/page ranges you want, give it an output filespec and then click run. This worked perfectly and was easy to use.
Both of these tools are useable online, or you can e.g. install a Windows app, which I chose to do.
